How Do We Remain Prepared in a Fast-Paced Environment?

Bookkeeping is demanding, exciting, inspiring, and above all, rewarding. It is about understanding how a business works and then providing accurate figures that enable the business to know precisely how well it is doing.

The Bookkeeping profession has evolved from a singular focus on data entry to playing a strategic role in helping advance core business goals and react to immense business challenges. However, conducting business in an uncertain and changing world has proven challenging for Bookkeepers.

Constant changes to the tax system, new rules and regulations around payroll, adapting to new government initiatives, disaster management and understanding the impact of technology on our practice – these are challenges for the modern Bookkeeper. It is a lot to take in.

Stay Organised!

Staying organised is critical when working in an environment that moves fast. Finding a system that works for you and us will make it easier to keep on top of our tasks. A filing system, sticky notes, digital planners, reminders, smartphone apps, or project management websites are all great organisational tools we can use.

We need to find a way to prioritise what we need to do first. Sometimes, we will need to reassess what we are doing and make last-minute changes to keep up with demands. Prioritising our tasks in a list makes everything more manageable and allows us to feel in control and grounded. As we complete each task, crossing items off the list affirms that we are making progress, which will help motivate us to move forward.

Benefits of Keeping Organised:

We can increase your productivity. By keeping organised, we will save time looking for things and have more time to work on essential tasks. Organisation can improve the flow of communication between us and our clients. After all, better communication leads to better results.

We can reduce your stress level. If things are organised and labelled neatly, tracking documents down should be a piece of cake rather than a source of stress!

We can be on time – consistently. Organisation and punctuality go hand-in-hand. Consider setting calendar alerts, for example, to ensure you do not get too caught up in a task and lose track of time.

We can ensure you meet deadlines. When task after task begins to pile up, it isn’t too hard to forget one small yet necessary task. Don’t miss an important deadline on a project because you got side tracked with another urgent item. Set calendar alerts so you will never miss a deadline again.
